Group Info

This group is meant as a collection of realistic renditions of Pokémon. The gallery is sorted by region/generation (I to V for now). The approbation process might be a bit strict, as only art of a certain level will be accepted: The render/style must be as realistic as possible.

I often come across submissions which I don't know if I should accept or not, so I want to have the members and watchers opinion.
What about this one: Metagross by AlbinoVerde ?

I think that the design is quite nice, but that the render is a bit sloppy.

Anyway, it is still nice enough to be featured through this journal here ;)

Submission Guide

I have had a few instances of members wondering what should be submitted in the group or not. In this regard, I will point out a few aspects that you should watch out for when submitting.

First of all, I have to insist that the acceptation or refusal of submissions is very subjective.

-Anatomy: The body of the Pokémon you drew should have believable proportions and and seem to be functional. Sometimes, I see great pictures that have all the body right, but have cartoony eyes. This also will not be accepted.

-Photomanipulations will not be accepted.

-Render: The image should not look unfinished or too rough. Some people have a rougher style, that can be accepted because of the artistic value. This means that the overall image still works, even with the flaws.

-Volume: The Pokémon should not look flat (even in the lineart section, you will find that the pictures all have a specific quality about them...) So, I expect to have obvious light and shadow zones. Areas that are colored differently depending on the light source, etc.

-Colors: It should not look monochromatic., but I have accepted black and white pictures before because of the (far) above average quality.

-A background is not mandatory, but it helps to have one. It always look better when your Pokémon is in context...

-Some pictures are great, but do not fit the group. Those would go in the group's Favorites gallery.

If you do not agree on a picture being in the group because it is not up to the standard you expect to see, or think it is unfair that your submission has been rejected, feel free to tell me. I will gladly consider your point and make whatever adjustment is necessary!

Do you accept only realistic Pokemon? I have a piece I'd like to submit featuring realistic Pokemon berries and was wondering if this is acceptable. Thanks in advance! ^_^

I submitted work to the group that was also declined and there are no comments why it has been declined. I've asked time and time again why my submissions have been declined and haven't received an answer so I'd like to know again why or what can I improve on or what was the problem?…

Because it's not realistic, especially the render. There is nice texture work, but the lighting does not convey the 3D, which would help make it look like a real animal.

Sorry for not replying before (procrastinator here :/ )
(I'm also bad at giving feedback, and am afraid to sound like a Jerk)
